Headboard
Peaceful slumber in the comfort bedroom
We spend almost a third of our lives in the land of Nod, recuperating and recharging our batteries. A cosier atmosphere and lasting relaxation can be achieved in the bedroom with just a few small changes. This is where the bed is at the focus: a home-made bed head can turn a simple divan into a piece of furniture with a look of its own. Designed in elegant French style, it's somewhere to relax on and also adds a touch of colour.
And this is how it's made:Step 1: Mark the positions of the 12 buttons on the board in three rows of 4 buttons spaced about 200 mm apart. Now drill two small holes close together at each button mark. |
Step 2: Cut the fabric and interfacing to size. Take the dimensions from the size of the wooden board, adding 150 mm all the way round. For a neat finish, cut the corners at a 45-degree slant. |
Step 4: To attach the buttons, push the upholstery nail with a double strand of thread through a button hole in the board as well as all layers so it comes out at the front. |
Step 6: Finally, screw the hanger to the top the board and fix a suitable hook to the wall using the wall plug. You have now finished making the elegant bed head that instantly invites you to relax. |
Tip: Anyone owing a cable tacker, e.g. the NOVUS J-19 OKY, can use the insulated cable staples for hanging the bed head on the hook.
